Title
Multi-Hazard Design of Highway Bridges
Abstract

The primary objectives of this research are to broaden the knowledge base, identify key parameters, and develop the first-generation guidelines for the multi-hazard design of highway bridges in NJ. The outcome of this project will significantly enhance the highway bridge resilience by incorporating the consideration of multi-hazard in design. This research will consist of two phases, and the specific objectives of each phase are summarized below:
Phase 1. Literature Search: The main objective is to conduct a comprehensive literature review of the research and leading practices in the multi-hazard design of highway bridge design.
Phase 2. Analysis of Structural Members: Based on the review findings in Phase 1, develop a work plan which focuses on the multi-hazard design of various bridge structural members including design examples and cost-benefit analysis.
